Gaza mill project will produce 250 tons of wheat daily
Palestine, Business, 8/24/1998

The Palestine International Company for Investment, a private company, announced that a mill project in the Gaza Strip will begin experimental production in the coming month and start its real production on October 20, producing 250 tons of wheat daily on three shifts that could be increased.

The head of the project, Sami El-Abadela, said this quantity will provide food for more than 2 million citizens daily, adding that the mill will employ more than 100 persons.

Work on the project started on September 14, 1996 with a capital of $17 million.

Concerning the difficulties facing the project, El-Abadela said that Israel refuses to supply the mill with the electricity necessary to activate its machines, because the project is in proximity with Gosh Katif settlement and is located in an area under Israeli security, yet El-Abadela said that the work is proceeding quickly.
