Washington denies intention to shut down its embassy in Beirut

An official US source has strongly denied press reports that Washington seeks to close its embassy in Beirut. The US official told the Lebanese daily al-Safir "Our embassy will not be shut down. The reports claiming so are all fabricated."
But the US official elaborated that following the explosions of Nairobi and Dar al-Salaam, the US embassies all over the world were put on alert, including the US embassy in Beirut.
