Arafat and Peres will arrive in Oslo soon, Netanyahu absent
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/21/1998

Palestinian President Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres will arrive in Norway on August 23 to participate in the celebration of the fifth anniversary of the peace agreements signed in Oslo.

Arafat and Perez reviewed the Islamic resistance movement Hamas in a comprehensive report about Oslo's agreement five years after signing the agreement.

A Palestinian source said today that Peres and Arafat will arrive on Sunday and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he wouldn't attend the celebration.

The Palestinian source added that the US Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East, Dennis Ross, will attend the celebration, which is organized in cooperation with the Norwegian committee for the Nobel Prize.

The source said that no official negotiations have been scheduled for the coming week.
