One Israeli soldier killed, three wounded in south Lebanon
The Lebanese resistance on Wednesday afternoon ambushed an Israeli armored patrol in the occupied part of south Lebanon. The attack resulted in the death of one Israeli soldier and injuries to three others, according to Lebanese security officials.

Death rate of Sudan famine victims down to 15 cases daily

Official sources in the state-run Saudi airlines announced yesterday large increases in the cost of air travel within Saudi Arabia. Prices for first-class travelers will jump 50%, while business-class price increases will reach 35%. Economy-class prices will remain unchanged. The increase comes as Saudi Arabia is facing a budget shortage due to a reduction in petroleum income. Go

Lebanese Minister of Agriculture Shawki Fakhouri announced that Saudi Arabia began to import Lebanese sweet potatoes again in large quantities, while the Jordanian markets are about to open on August 25. The Lebanese minister said there is no limit to the quantities allowed to be imported. Go

The Jordanian Royal Court on Wednesday night announced the death of Baha al-Din al-Hashimi, father of late Queen Alia, wife of King Hussein. She was killed in a helicopter crash in February 1977. King Hussein married Queen Alia in January 1972 who died four years later at the age of 28. Go
