Tourism up 3.7 percent in Tunis

Tunisian President Zein El-Abidin Bin Ali ratified a plan to develop Tunisia's tourism sector, especially in the Gerba and Gergeis districts, as statistics from the Tunisian Tourism Ministry showed the number of tourists nights in Tunis between the beginning of 1998 and the end of last July rose by 3.7% in comparison with the same period last year.
The total tourist nights in Tunisia recorded an increase of 6.2% during July 1998 in comparison with July 1997.
