Egypt blames Israel for peace deadlock
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 8/19/1998
President Mubarak's political advisor, Osama el-Baz, said Monday that the Israeli government is responsible for obstructing the peace process on all tracks.
Meeting with Islamic students in Cairo on Monday, el-Baz stated that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is pursuing an anti-peace policy which will create a hazardous situation for security and stability in the Middle East.
He added that the land-for-peace principle is the basis for reaching a just, balanced and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. He stressed that a just and comprehensive peace remains the strategic objective so long as it ensures the restoration of full Arab rights to their legitimate owners.
