Palestinian warning of adverse effects of Israeli government's obstinacy
Palestine, Politics, 8/18/1998

Palestinian sources confirmed that Egyptian diplomacy is fully aware of the maneuvers the Israeli government is making to avoid its commitments.

The Palestinian ambassador in Cairo, Zohdi El-Kardra, confirmed that the Israeli government's lasting obstinacy and the deadlocked peace process will greatly frustrate the Arab states which will have unfavorable effects on the whole region.

In press statements, El-Kardra said that the talks between Palestinian President Arafat and Egypt's President Mubarak come within the coordination and consultations to rescue the peace process from its current impasse due to the Israeli government's obstinate policy.

He said the talks tackle the status of the peace process, the methods of getting the process out of its current deadlock, and the prospects for progress in the near future, especially within the failure of all attempts to convince Israel to accept the US initiative for the second phase of redeployment in the West Bank and the Likud government's continued efforts to Judaize Jerusalem, expand settlements and confiscate land

El-Kardra praised the coordination between Egypt, Palestine, and all parties concerned with peace process.
