Four armed tribesmen arrested in Sanaa
Yemen, Local, 8/17/1998
The security forces today in Sanaa said they arrested four tribesmen who violated the new resolution new banning the carrying weapons in cities which was issued by the security committee last Thursday.
Yemeni security sources today told ArabicNews.com that "the four armed persons were escorting one of the eastern areas' tribal leaders, and they refused to deliver their weapons to the inspection point near the building of the Ministry of Finance," adding that they fired their weapons into the air before elements from the police and the security forces were able to arrest them.
The sources said that this incident confirms the Ministry of Interior's intent to apply the new ban resolution of the security committee, adding that what happened is evidence of this resolve, as inspectors could not before arrest escort's of tribal leaders.
