King Hussein gives reshuffle authority to Crown Prince Hassan

The official magazine in Amman on Sunday published a Royal decree according to which King Hussein of Jordan transferred certain authorities to Crown Prince Hassan.

These include assigning new ministers or forming a new government. The given authorities excludes the powers to make constitutional amendments or sign a treaties.

King Hussein has been undergoing treatments for a curable type of cancer at the Mayo Clinic in the US.

Well-informed Jordanian sources said that in light of the new authorization, Crown Prince Hassan is expected to make a Cabinet reshuffle following the resignation of the current government of the Jordanian Premier Abdul Salam al-Majali, adding that first nominees for the new government are Mudar Badran and Zeid al-Refai.
