Islamic Group to announce stance toward US embassies attacks
Egypt, Politics, 8/15/1998

Sources close to the Islamic Group in Egypt said yesterday that the group will soon announce its position towards the two bomb attacks last week against the US embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

The organization will clarify the reasons that caused the director of the organization's Majlis al-Shura council, Rafae Ahmed Taha, to deny that the group is involved in the International Islamic Front for Fighting Jews and Christians days before the embassy attacks.

The sources told ArabicNews.com that the group will support the two operations and will launch attacks on the U.S. and expose the reasons that cause Moslems to be against the US, but the group did not mention that it had a relation to the two explosions.

The sources added that the leaders of the groups abroad are currently in communication aiming to agree upon the group's position toward the embassy bombings, but some of them are staying in countries that makes it difficult to communicate with, without compromising their security, causing the delay in issuing the statement.
