Sudan, Economics, 8/15/1998
The German Defense Ministry yesterday announced that a reconnaissance team from the ministry will head for Sudan in preparation for the arrival of two Trinsal C-160 planes in a context of an air bridge to transport humanitarian aid under the auspices of the UN.
The German offer to provide aid to southern Sudan was submitted at the beginning of August, and the proposal was accepted by the Sudanese authorities. It provides for making four flights per day for eight running days. According to information by UN Humanitarian organizations some 2.5 million persons are vulnerable to death of hunger in southern Sudan.
