Egypt-France, Entertainment, 8/15/1998
Egyptian director Yousef Chahine will start at the beginning of the coming month shooting his new film "The Last" in which he tackles the effects of the 1990 Gulf War on the Arab area and what is called the "New World Order."
The film is Chahine's scenario with cooperation of his young assistant Khaled Yousef.
In his new work, Chahine will collaborate with the team that worked on his previous film, "The Destiny" that received wide acclaim.
The ministries of culture and the Frankfort in France will support the production of this film, whose costs are expected to reach 10 million French Francs.
Meanwhile, in a press statement on the International Cairo Cinema Festival which will begin on November 25 and last for a week, Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi announced the refusal of the festival's management to include Israeli films or actors in the event due to the decision of the Egyptian vocational unions to halt normalization with Israel unless some progress is made in the peace process.
