El Guerrouj confirms supremacy in 1,500 m race

Moroccan field and track star Hicham El-Guerrouj confirmed Wednesday his supremacy over the 1,500 m race at the Zurich meeting, part of the IAAF- Golden league events.
El-Guerrouj won the race clocking in at 3:26.45, beating out Kenyan runners Laban Rotich and John Kibowen. By winning the race for the 4th time in a row, El Guerrouj, who holds the 1,500 m world record (3:26), enhanced his chances to be part of the winners of the $1 million IAAF-jackpot.
The IAAF-Golden league includes six meets. El-Guerrouj has won so far four and still needs to win two upcoming meets (Brussels and Berlin) to be among the winners of the IAAF jackpot.
In the women's 400-m hurdles, Moroccan Nazha Bedouane ranked 2nd, clocking 53.31 behind world record holder American star Kim Batten while Moroccan Brahim Boulami finished 5th in the 3000 m steeple, which was captured by young Kenyan runner Bernard Barmasai.
