Arab meeting will discuss program for international criminal court
Regional, Politics, 8/12/1998
A regional meeting will be held at Arab League headquarters at the beginning of September to study the main system of the International Criminal Court.
Arab League Secretary-General Esmat Abdul Meguid approved of the establishment of the court, and he called for it to practice its role as an international judicial body.
The meetings will discuss some countries' reservations concerning the court's main system, which was ratified on July 17 at the international conference held in Rome with the approval of 120 countries, the opposition of the U.S.A, Israel, 3 Arab countries -- Qatar, Libya and Algeria -- and China and India. 21 countries abstained from voting.
