Australia backs Lebanon

The Australian ambassador to Lebanon has stressed his country's support for the implementation of UN resolution 425 providing for Israel's unconditional withdrawal from south Lebanon. In press statements he made on Tuesday in Beirut following a tour of the Bekaa region, the Australian ambassador noted the support of the Australian government to Lebanon and its people.
The ambassador revealed contacts made by Lebanon with Australia on connections between certain members of the Lebanese community in Australia with the spy network recently arrested in Lebanon.
He added that there is a dialogue between the Lebanese and Australian governments in this respect. "Should such things happen again our government will carry out its tasks."
