Oman - Israeli trade exchange

An official report issued in Oman on Tuesday said trade exchange between Oman and Israel was less than half a million dollars in 1997.
The report, which was released by the trade ministry in Oman, said that Oman's imports from Israel were $480,000 US in 1997 representing 0.009% of Oman's total imports, whereas Oman's exports to Israel did not exceed $15,000 US dollars representing 0.0008% of the Israeli exports.
Exchange ties between the two sides cover paper, petrochemical industries and electrical equipment. Oman is the only Arab country in the Gulf region which maintians a trade consulate in Israel, opened in August 1996. The chairman of the mission was summoned in January 1997. He was not replaced.
