Israel use phosphorus bombs in their continued attacks on Lebanon
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 8/12/1998

Lebanese resistance forces on Tuesday attacked the Israeli occupation position in Sujoud inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said the attack scored direct hits.

At dawn, another resistance group attacked Israeli armored vehicles on the road to the Sujoud position, scoring direct hits.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces bombarded with artillery shells Ein al-Teineh heights and the western part of al-Shama town in the Eastern sector. Lebanese security sources said the Israeli forces used internationally -banned phosphorus bombs in their attacks. The artillery bombardment was accompanied by enemy warplanes which flew over several areas in south Lebanon carrying out mock provocative raids over al-Zahrani area.

Meanwhile, assistant secretary-general of the Hizbullah party in Lebanon, Sheikh Naeem Qasem, has pledged the continuation of Lebanese resistance until Israel pulls out of south Lebanon.

In a speech he delivered in Haula town in south Lebanon on Tuesday, Qasem added that the resistance is capable of foiling the new Israeli plan to pursue Lebanese fighters by the use of warplanes and helicopters. "When Israel decides to change its methods of aggression, we will think of how to give a proper response," he said.

He said that Lebanese resistance fighters were able to improve their combat technique when Israel developed the Merkava tank, and thus to defeat the vehicle.
