Lebanese resistance fighters escalate resistance

Israeli military sources said the army's northern command felt a deep disgrace following the successful infiltration of a Hizbullah gunman into one of the bases in occupied south Lebanon.

While Israeli soldiers were preparing for their assignment, two Hizbullah gunmen approached the base. One infiltrated the base and the other remained on guard. A fist fight broke out between the Hizbullah gunman and one of the Israeli soldiers. Other soldiers rushed to the site and opened fire, wounding the Hizbullah gunman.

Bleeding from his wounds, the Hizbullah gunman managed to flee from the paratroopers, and left the base.

Throughout Monday, senior Israeli military officers questioned the unit's soldiers, and an official announcement on the incident and the outcome will only be issued after the investigation is done, military sources said.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation troops on Monday morning bombarded the surroundings of Kafra and Yater towns with heavy artillery.

Later, Israeli radio stated that a member of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army was killed due to the detonation of a charge by the Lebanese resistance against the SLA militia patrol in Jezzine district in occupied south Lebanon on Monday afternoon.

Lebanese security sources said Israeli warplanes flew over the Western Bekaa and launched several air-to-surface missiles.

The sources added that the Israeli artillery stationed in al-Zaffata position bombarded the woods of Sojoud, al-Raihan, al-Tasse spring flow, the heights of Mleita, Lweizeh and al-Rafee mountain.

The bombardment was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire which targeted the roads that link al-Tuffah district to the occupied part of south Lebanon. The Israeli warplanes carried out fake raids over the central and western sectors, al-Nabatieh and al-Tuffah districts.

Lebanese resistance forces on Sunday attacked a position of the Israeli occupation troops in the western sector of south Lebanon. The attack was launched in retaliation for the troops' attacks on towns and villages adjacent to the occupied area of the south. Resistance sources said Lebanese resistance fighters used machine-guns, rockets and mortars during their attack against the Israeli position in al-Hardoun hill.

The fighters clashed for 20 minutes with the occupied position and inflicted heavy losses upon them. Lebanese security sources said an Israeli military vehicle inside the position was directly hit, and its occupants were either killed or wounded. An Israeli helicopter was seen evacuating casualties, the sources added.

They added that a machine-gun battery was destroyed, and several explosions were heard as a result of an explosion in an ammunition dump which was hit by a rocket. Meanwhile, the Lebanese resistance in the afternoon attacked a joint Israeli - SLA militia position in al-Qantara, inside the occupied part of south Lebanon. In a statement, the resistance said their forces rocketed and machine gunned the position. Direct hits were scored. The statement added that SLA military reinforcements advanced to the target position where they were attacked by resistance forces.

On Sunday evening, the Israeli artillery shelled the towns of Qabriha, Majdal Salem, Mothalath Tolit, Zibqin, and al-Salwqi valley, Lebanese security sources said. The occupation troops used mortar shells and phosphoric bombs causing serious fires to break out in the target areas. The shelling was accompanied by heavy machine gun fire targeting the roads that lead to the central district sector.

Further reports said the occupation troops shelled the eastern part of Toulin town in the area extending from the town to al-Sawanneh locality.

The Israeli shelling also hit al-Qeysiyah and al-Mansouri valleys, and the towns of Majdal Zoun and Zibqin. Israeli warplanes flew over villages of the central sector and carried out mock raids.

SLA radio said one of its men was wounded during the attacks by the Lebanese resistance against al-Qantara position. Moreover, the Israeli occupation troops renewed attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon.
