Arab countries need $110 billion to produce electric energy up to 2015

The amounts required to be invested in the field of electric energy production in Arab countries during the coming seven years are assessed at about 50 billion dollars, according to the Lebanese weekly "Magazine" which referred to recent studies.

According to these studies, Arab countries' needs in electric energy which do not exceed 84 thousand megawatts at present, would reach by year 2005 some 167 thousand megawatts, i.e. an increase of 98.8 pc.

The volume of investments in the field is assessed at some 110 billion dollars up to 2015, when arab countries' electric energy needs will then reach 195 thousand megawatts, i.e; an evolution of 132 percent compared to the current situation, the weekly said.
