Doctors and engineers stage sit in to protest unemployment
Morocco, Economics, 8/6/1998
Moroccan unemployed doctors and engineers staged on Wednesday a 24-hour "warning sit-in" in front of the headquarters of the Moroccan parliament in downtown Rabat.
In a release circulated at the sit-in spot, the protesters requested that officials "urgently intervene" to settle their situation.
They urged the "human rights organizations, the unions and the living forces of the country" to back them. The protesters also renewed their will to resort to all forms of legitimate action to defend their right to employment.
Jobless Moroccan graduates have been staging a series of sit-ins and hunger strikes to attract attention to their precarious situation.
