Saudi Arabia evacuates 750,000 foreign workers

The Saudi daily al-Riyadh issued on Wednesday reported that the Saudi authorities have expelled more than 750,000 foreign workers who violated laws pertaining to the length of their stay in the kingdom following the expiration of the grace period in October, 1997.
The paper quoted the customs general directorate as saying that the campaign aimed at correcting the conditions of those who violate laws of staying in the kingdom.
The paper elaborated that some 752,241 persons have been evacuated to their respective countries, whereas other 485,067 could correct their conditions, thereby stayed in the Kingdom.
