Ruler of Qatar to visit Algeria

Ruler of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa al-Thani Tomorrow will pay a two-day official visit to Algeria. A spokesman for the Algerian Foreign Ministry said Monday that the visit of Qatar's emir is in reply to the visit made several months earlier by the Algerian president to Qatar.

Meanwhile, Algerian President Liamine Zeroual today received the UN delegation led by former Portuguese President Mario Soares currently visiting Algeria. Algerian official sources said that Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmad Attaf and the advisor of the Algerian president for political affairs attended the meeting.

The sources did not give details on the content of talks held during the meeting.

In another development, Sheikh Hamad received a message today from the President of Sri Lanka dealing with means of strengthening relations between the two countries.

The Qatari News agency said the message was delivered by the Sri Lankan ambassador to Qatar during his meeting today in Doha with Bahrain's Crown Prince Sheikh Jasem Bin Hamad al-Thani.
