First minister from Laos to visit Cairo
Egypt-Laos, Politics, 7/31/1998
The foreign minister of Laos, Somsavat Lengsavat, will arrive at Cairo to begin a three-day visit on October 5, his first to Egypt, during which he will meet with Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa.
Ambassador Saiid Ragab, the Egyptian assistant foreign minister for Asian affairs, said the visit of the Laotian minister to Cairo is a very special one because it is the first visit for a foreign minister from Laos to Egypt, and comes after his country joined the organization of southern and eastern Asian states.
Ragab added that Moussa's talks with Somsavat will concentrate on the important international and regional issues of joint interest, particularly the recent developments in the Middle East peace process, the situation in eastern Asia, and methods of enhancing economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
