Cairo denies pressuring Israeli embassy
Egypt-Israel, Politics, 7/30/1998

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry denied reports in Israel complaining about the exposure of Israel's embassy in Cairo to various kinds of pressure.

The complaint also said that the Egyptian authorities are restricting the Israeli embassy's communications with Egyptian citizens and organizations concerned with Arab and Israeli peace.

The complaint also includes mistreatment of Israeli tourists at air and land entrance points, beside the practices of inspection to which those coming from Israel are exposed under claims that the Egyptian authorities want to prevent Israelis from smuggling drugs, weapons or forged money into Egypt.

In this context Cairo replied to this complaint by saying that dealings with the Israeli embassy are subject to agreements related to the delegations and diplomatic immunities.
