Egypt prevents Sudanese chief journalist from entering
Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 7/30/1998

The Sudanese ambassador in Egypt, Ahmed Abdul Halim, informed the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in an official visit about his country's protest against the Egyptian authorities' decision to prevent the chief Sudanese journalist, El-Nagib Adam Kamer El-Din, from entering Egypt to attend the meetings of the Arab Journalists Union currently underway in Alexandria.

Ambassador Fouad Youssef, the assistant Egyptian foreign minister for Sudanese affairs said that El-Nagib obtained a visa from the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum, and ticket from Egypt's air company, yet the authorities at Cairo Airport informed El-Nagib that he is listed among the names of those who are forbidden to enter Egypt.

He stayed at the airport for 24 hours before leaving Cairo, returning to Khartoum.
