Iraq, Politics, 7/30/1998
Iraq called on the United Nations to join in implementing the oil-for-food agreement in the Kurdish regions of northern Iraq, saying that the agreement has not shared in improving the conditions of the Iraqi people there till now.
Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohamed Said al-Sahaf addressed a message to UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan, in which the Iraqi official said the relief agencies in the north failed to implement the agreement.
The message also stressed the importance of solving this matter through consultations and cooperation between these agencies and Iraqi specialized authorities.
