Israel shell south Lebanon, prevent farmers from cultivating wheat harvest

Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday shelled several areas in the western Bekaa. Lebanese security sources said the occupation artillery targeted the Litani river area, Maidoun woods and Berkat al-Jabbour areas.

The Israeli bombardment concentrated on the heights facing the occupation position in Toumat Neiha. A total of 11 shells were fired during the attack. The enemy shelling coincided with a large mopping up operation involving machine-guns targeted at the western woods of Mashghara town and Ein al-Tineh heights.

Meanwhile, Israeli jets carried out numerous mock raids at low altitude over the western Bekaa areas. The Israeli jets dropped thermal balloons to divert fire from the Lebanese army and national resistance position. In conjunction with the warplanes Israel attack helicopters flew intensive missions over areas between al-Qatrani to the west until al-Kassarat hill to the east. Thermal balloons and light bombs were dropped by the helicopters.

At dawn Wednesday the Lebanese resistance, using rockets, attacked Israeli movements inside occupation and Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army positions in Barachit. In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said it was able to score direct hits.

On Tuesday night, the Lebanese resistance force monitored the movements of Israeli armored vehicles around the Sujoud position. The occupation forces sustained a direct attack with rockets and direct hits were scored.

In another statement the resistance said one of its groups attacked an Israeli foot patrol caught in act of making fortifications inside the al-Radar position in the Western sector of south Lebanon. The statement said direct hits were achieved against the enemy position.

Meanwhile, news reports from south Lebanon stated that the occupied Lebanese town of Teir Harfa has been subjected to campaigns of arrest and acts of violation carried out by the Israeli occupation forces and its allies. The reports said that among the hostile actions was SLA elements preventing farmers from cultivating their wheat harvest.

In a statement, citizens of the town denounced these acts.
