Kuwait welcomes Iraqi laborers who carry European passports

A Kuwaiti deputy conveyed Kuwaiti Minister of Interior Sheikh Hamad al-Khaled al-Sabah'st that Kuwait has no opposition to foreign citizens of Iraqi origin working in Kuwaiti as long as they do not violate the country's security.
The executive of the interior affairs and defense committee at the Nation's Council (Parliament), deputy Aiyed Ghaloush said the committee discussed the fact that Kuwait's government allows some Iraqi citizens who carry foreign passports to work in Kuwait, and the minister told the committee that the government approves them, making sure they are not involved in any case or security questions.
He stated that the cases of residents with no specified nationalities, the issue of controversial defense purchasing transactions , and the issue of women's political rights were the most important topics discussed by the committee during its second session, which started in October 1997 and will end in August.
