Qaddoumi arrives in Cairo
Palestine, Politics, 7/27/1998

Head of the political department of the Palestinian Liberation Organization Farouk Qaddoumi arrived yesterday from Tunisia for a formal visit to Cairo, during which he will meet with high-ranking Egyptian officials and Arab ambassadors in Cairo.

The Palestinian delegate at the Arab League, Mahmed Sobieh, said that Qaddoumi will brief the Egyptian officials on the outcomes of the Israeli/Palestinian negotiations and the importance of Egyptian support for Palestine in international circles.

Moreover Sobieh said that Qaddoumi will discuss the Egyptian officials the agenda of the Jerusalem Committee -- under the leadership of the Moroccan monarch, King Hassan II -- which will meet on Wednesday and in which Egypt will participate.

Israel has prevented Qaddoumi from traveling to Gaza from Tunisia while he was doing his works, but there were conflicting reports about his desire to return to Gaza.
