605 affected by AIDS virus in Yemen

The number of those who are affected by the AIDS virus in Yemen has reached at least 605 as of the middle of July. Formal reports uncovered that the number of AIDS patients reached 277 cases, while the number of those known to carry the virus number 328.
The reports also stated that 53% of those afflicted are Yemeni citizens, with 47% being of other nationalities.
The reports stated that after making necessary medical checkups it was indicated that 373 of the AIDS cases were caused by the transfer of the virus through sex, and 17 cases through blood transfusions, while it was not clear as to the method of virus transmission for the others.
