Regional, Politics, 7/25/1998
A study for the general trusteeship of the Arab interior ministers' council confirmed that 25 percent the world's total terrorist operations annually take place in Arab states.
The study said that the percentage of all terrorist operations in the Middle East region reached 53.4% of the world's total operations during last year, followed by the Asian region with 21.4%, the African region with 7.8% and Latin America with 2.5%, then finally North and Central America with 1.1%.
The study found that foreign financing for terrorist groups forms one of the bases upon which terrorism depends to set up terrorist operations, either in the recruitment of members, training of members or supplying the necessary tools for them.
Some terrorist groups also depend on donations from the rich and income from investment and economic corporations owned or shared by these groups, the study said.
The Arab interior ministers' council is an Arab League organization, and the general trusteeship of this council is located in Tunisia.
