Israeli shelling of Lebanese villages expands scope

Israeli occupation troops on Wednesday night and Thursday morning shelled several areas in south Lebanon, especially al-Tuffah district.
Lebanese security sources said the artillery attacks targeted the areas of Jarjou', Ein Buswar, Mleita, Habboush river, al-Rafei mountain, Sujoud, al-Zahrani river, Safi mountain, al-Litani river, and Aqmata and al-Hamra farms. The bombardment also covered the towns of Shawkat Mifdoun, Yahmur and Arnoun as well as areas situated between eastern al-Kfour, for the first time since the creation of April Understanding in 1996. The Israeli troops used 155 mm artillery shells.
On Thursday night the Israeli occupation forces renewed aggressions against areas adjacent to the occupied part of south Lebanon, especially al-Tuffah district heights. Lebanese security sources said Israeli heavy artillery bombarded on Thursday areas of Leiseh, Mleita, al-Jabal al-Rafei, Litani and al-Zahrani river courses Aqmata farm and Sujoud - al-Rayhan woods. The attacks coincided with heavy artillery shelling on the axis of the targeted area, while Israeli warplanes were carried out mock raids in local airspace.
The sources said the bombardment caused property damage, adding that the fires broke out in olive and fruit tree orchards.
In retaliation, The Lebanese resistance launched on Wednesday night two attacks against the Israeli positions in Sujoud and Beer Klab. In a statement on Thursday, the Lebanese resistance said it scored direct hits against the two positions.
At dawn Thursday, the Lebanese resistance troops carried out two attacks against the Israeli occupation forces in Barachit and Hadatha positions in the occupied part of south Lebanon. Lebanese resistance sources said the two attacks scored direct hits in the lines of the Israeli troops.
In a new development, news reports from Jezzine in the occupied part of south Lebanon said that members of the Israeli-allied South Lebanon Army in the region refused to serve at Toumat Neiha position, which had been named the "suicide position" The reports added that the Israeli occupation leadership finds it very difficult to recruit guards and service personnel for the said position.
Lebanese resistance forces have recently carried out operations against Israeli troops and their allies in Jezzine district especially or Toumat Neiha position.
