Egypt praises Algerian decision to invite UN group
Egypt-Algeria, Politics, 7/23/1998

Egypt expressed its approval of the decision of the Algerian government to call a group of international personalities appointed by the UN to consult with the Algerian government, the Arab League and the Organization of African Unity for briefings on the facts of the situation in Algeria.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that Egypt's approval comes according to this committee's natural work and its responsibility to convey honestly an accurate picture of the situation in Algeria.

The spokesman said that Egypt views great concern by the Algerian decision to provide a clear image of the security situation with their openness before the international community.

He reiterated Egypt's trust in the committee's mission, which will contribute to clarifying the situation, the specter of terrorism and the Algerian government's policies in order to confront it.
