Australia's condemnation postpone Netanyahu's visit
Israel-Australia, Politics, 7/21/1998
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to postpone a visit to Australia which he was to pay during the coming month according an announcement from the prime minister's spokesman.
The source said the postponement of the visit is due to the recent developments viewed by the peace process, where Palestinian negotiator Mahmoud Abass (Abu Mazen) is meeting with Israeli Defense Minister Yitzhak Mordechai for the first time since the halting of the peace process.
The postponement of the visit comes after the Australian parliament issued a report criticizing the peace process, which negatively affected the relations between the two countries.
Meanwhile Israel has criticized the Australian report, saying that it is just a P.L.O (Palestinian Liberation Organization) document.
Netanyahu was to begin a five-day visit to Australia on August 14 to discuss aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
