Moussa: Egypt-Syria summit next, to go to France for peace discussions
Egypt-Regional, Politics, 7/20/1998

Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa is going to visit France on Monday to hold talks with his French counterpart, Hubert Vedrine on reviewing the French - Egyptian initiative for holding an international conference on the deadlocked peace process between Israel and the Palestinian government.

Moussa will also head to the Moroccan capital, Rabat, at the end of the current month, to attend the meetings of the Jerusalem committee, headed by Morocco's King Hassan II.

Moussa stated that the current events in the region necessitate the meeting of the Jerusalem committee to confront the serious deterioration in the situation there and Israel's breach of the international resolutions relating to Jerusalem's situation. Moussa also emphasized the importance of taking the necessary procedures to halt Israel from breaching UN Security Council resolutions regarding Jerusalem.

Moussa said he expected a Syrian -Egyptian summit to be held during the coming days, saying that this expected meeting between Egyptian President Mubarak and Syrian President al-Assad will tackle the status of the peace process, especially the steps that will be taken to confront all the issues obstructing the peace process.
