Gulf States for UAE's sovereignty over Gulf islands
United Arab Emirates-Regional, Politics, 7/20/1998

The General Secretariat of the Arab League has received a memorandum submitted by the United Arab Emirates [UAE] asking for documentation pertaining to the three disputed Gulf islands Greater Tanb, Lesser Tanb and Abu Mousa, in the final statement of the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC] Ministerial Council at the Arab League.

A statement by the UAE to the Arab League said the memorandum includes an assertion of the GCC ministerial council's backing of all peaceful measures taken by the UAE to restore sovereignty over the three islands and to settle the dispute over these islands according to international law, including submitting the dispute to the International Court of Justice. The UAE secretariat called for circulating the memorandum to the Arab League's member states.
