Kuwait denies relations to US plan to topple Saddam Hussein
Iraq-Kuwait-USA, Politics, 7/20/1998

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah has asserted that his country has no connections to the US plan to topple the Iraqi government led by President Saddam Hussein.

In a press statement he made on Saturday following a meeting of the Kuwaiti parliament Sheikh al-Sabah added that Kuwait does not interfere in Iraq's internal affairs. In his statements, the Iraqi minister responded to information published on Friday by the US daily Wall Street Journal. The information says that US President Bill Clinton is trying to win the consent of the Congress to organize large-scale secret operations against the Iraqi regime.

Meanwhile, Iraq has asserted that any attempt made by the US to topple Saddam Hussein will be doomed to failure and be fruitless. The spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Information and Culture told reporters that by doing so the US will only find failure and frustration.
