Baghdad accuses allies of using uranium in Desert Storm

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed Said al-Sahaf, in a message to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, defended his country's efforts to demand compensation according to the allegations of the Iraqi government that the Allied Forces used depleted uranium weapons during the Desert Storm operation against Iraqi forces.
In his message, al-Sahaf placed on the U.S. and Britain humanitarian, judicial and international responsibility for the results of the use of depleted uranium weapons. Iraqi foreign Minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf on May 24 called on the U.N. to secure compensation for damages caused by the depleted uranium weapons.
