Algeria signs agreement with Boeing to purchase 10 airplanes
Algeria, Business, 7/18/1998
Algerian Airlines signed a transaction to modernize its fleet, which includes purchasing 10 Boeing airplanes worth $400 million under very confidential circumstances.
The Algerian convoy presented in June 1997 a bid to purchase nine airplanes, but the bid received no response from Boeing, which refrained from presenting an offer at a time in which the European Air Bus company showed an interest in the matter and presented a detailed offer to supply Algeria with needed airplanes.
It is expected that Algerian Airlines will receive two Boeing 300-737 airplanes and five 737-800 airplanes of in the year 2000 and the three remaining 600-737 airplanes in the year 2002. These airplanes carry between 110 and 132 passengers.
