Clashes damage Hadatha houses, air raids target Sujoud
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 7/17/1998

The Israeli occupation forces on Thursday morning shelled the outskirts of Hadatha, Eita al-Jabal, Yatter, Kafra and Haris towns. News from south Lebanon reported that the Israeli bombardment was accompanied by mopping up operations with gun-machine fire on the outskirts of Eita al-Jabal and Hadatha towns.

As a result, three houses were damaged in Hadatha town. A fire broke out in olive trees and wheat fields in Hadatha and Eita al-Jabal towns. The fires were still raging by 10:00 a.m. yesterday. Civil defense forces were not able to reach the area because of the threat of further Israeli attacks.

Yesterday morning Israeli warplanes raided the deserted town of Sujoud in al-Tuffah district. News from south Lebanon reported that Israeli jets raided the targeted area twice. The jets fired four air - surface missiles.

Later in the day, Lebanese resistance forces attacked Israeli positions in Hadatha, Beit Yahoun, al-Qadeim, Barachit and Sujoud. Resistance sources said clashes with Hadatha defenders lasted for 20 minutes, during which the resistance scored direct hits on the fortifications of the position, setting fire to one of the vehicles at the position. Other occupation fortifications in Beit Yahoun, al-Qadeim and Barachit sustained similar damages.
