Iraq-Iran, Politics, 7/16/1998
Spokesman for the Iranian embassy in Baghdad said on Wednesday he expects an Iranian delegation to arrive in Iraq within the forthcoming days in order to monitor current preparations to receive Iranian visitors of the Shiite holy shrines.
He added the Iranian technical delegation will arrive in Iraq before the end of the current month to inspect places where the visitors will be accommodated. He also expected the Iranian visitors to get into Iraq through the border point al-Khousroy, where the Iraqi al-Huda company will take arrangements for their stay until they leave the Iraqi territories.
The embassy added that Iraq and Iran on Wednesday held a new series of talks on war prisoners between the two countries 1980-1988. The spokesman added that talks between the two sides are being held in Khousroy.
The Iranian side to the talks is led by Gen. Abdullah al-Najafi, who is the director of the Iranian committee for war prisoners and the Iraqi side by official responsible for prisoners of war file in the Iraqi foreign ministry.
