Beirut to host November banking conference

Beirut is due to host a banking conference in November, which 400 banking officials and experts will attend to discuss trends in the Arab banking industry in confronting international variables and the challenges of globalization.

The Arab Banks Union, which will hold the conference on November 5 - 7, said that the work papers will concentrate on methods of developing the Arab banking system to cope with recent developments in the international banking industry, confronting increasing competition, international variables including the new European monetary unit and international credit configuration, and technological developments in banking and financial services.

The security-general of the union Adnan al-Hendi, said that the conference will be held under the sponsorship of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and will tackle the role of banks in financing services, trade and investment in the Arab world.
