Israeli practices condemned by world organizations
Regional-Israel, Politics, 7/16/1998

Non-Governmental Organizations on Wednesday in Geneva condemned Israel's practices against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.

AFP reported that many NGOs, including Human Rights Watch, the International Union for Human Rights and organizations from inside Israel called on the human rights committee currently meeting in Geneva to condemn Israel for oppressive practices in the occupied Arab lands.

The Organizations said that Israel is using all forms of torture to extract information from the Palestinian prisoners. Israel was also condemned for using administrative detention for renewable periods.

The NGOs also criticized the detention of more than 20 Lebanese persons as hostages to swap them with the Israeli soldiers who disappeared during Israeli attacks against south Lebanon.
