Algeria: Armed group leader may be executed

The criminal court in the state of Tayarat in western Algeria has issued judgments varying between execution and 20 years of imprisonment to 8 suspects, among them 5 women, while one suspect was pronounced innocent, and the leader of the group was imprisoned for a period of 10 to 20 years.
The group was convicted on charges of deliberate killing and working in armed terrorist groups.
Elsewhere, a major explosion took place in the district of Wadkenesem killing 10 citizens, among them 3 women. The government accused Islamic extremists of launching these explosions, confirming that it will arrest the perpetrators as soon as possible.
