Morocco's population 35 million by 2014
Morocco, Culture, 7/13/1998
The Moroccan population will be 35 million strong by the year 2014, the Moroccan Economic planning department said. The Moroccan population was 15.379 million in 1971 and went up to 28 million by 1998.
According to the forecasts from the Demographic Research Center, the population will increase to 35 million in 2014.
The share of young people in the age pyramid, which was so far important, will start to decrease. People below 15 years of age accounted for 44.4 percent of the population in 1960. The rate fell to 34 percent in 1998, Map reported.
Teenagers, who represented 23.2 percent of all inhabitants in 1994, account only for 22.9 percent in 1998. The rate will increase again between 1994 and 2001 before starting a downward trend between 2001 and 2014.
The active population, aged between 15 and 59, and the elderly (above 60) will see their rate increase tangibly in the urban milieu.
