Fishing village dedicated shortly in Morocco
Morocco-Japan, Economics, 7/11/1998

A fishing village, "Cala Iris," will be dedicated shortly in Beni Boufrah (northeastern Morocco) to benefit a community of over 10,000 persons.

The dedication ceremony will be attended by a visiting delegation from the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Fisheries which is contributing to several fishing projects in Morocco.

The delegation, led by the minister's advisor, exchanged on Friday with Moroccan Minister of Fisheries Thami El Khyari views on the two countries' experiences in protecting sea resources, Map reported.

The Japanese delegation stressed that its experience is based on scientific foundations and a large knowledge of the marine ecosystem.

The "Cala Iris" village, which cost 70 million DH ($7.14 million), comprises several facilities for the promotion of fishing activities in the region.
