Moroccan carrier concludes accord with TWA
Morocco, Business, 7/10/1998

The Moroccan carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) concluded on Monday in Casablanca a partnership accord with Trans World Airlines (TWA) to develop air traffic between Morocco and the United States.

The accord provides for a better servicing of the Casablanca-New York route and the development of other destinations in Morocco and the United States.

RAM said in a release circulated following the signing of the accord that it intends to exploit a code sharing with TWA to service some U.S cities, including Chicago, Miami, Orlando, Los Angeles, Washington and St. Louis, Map reported.

Under the same code-sharing formula, TWA will service some Moroccan cities, including Tangiers, Marrakesh, in addition to some destinations in western Africa and southern Europe from Casablanca.

RAM and TWA also pledged to foster cooperation in matters of marketing and promotion of American tourism in Morocco. In this vein, an accord on setting attractive fares inside the United States was concluded and the Moroccan-bound will be available on TWA distribution systems throughout the United States.

The two carriers also undertook to ease the flow of goods between Morocco and the United States. Under the accord, RAM will be entrusted with conveying TWA mail to Western Africa.

The two sides also agreed to coordinate action in the fields of commercial innovation, service quality and cost control to offer to their clients the best possible service at the lowest cost.

Set up in 1925, TWA is a pioneer company in international air transport. It transports 23.4 million passengers towards 117 destinations inside the United States and around the world. The company's turnover stood at $3.3 billion in 1997.
