Sudanese government ready to try suspects in attacks
Sudan, Politics, 7/9/1998

Sudanese Minister of the Interior Abdul Rahim Muhammad Hussein said that some 15 persons accused of being involved in the series of explosions that took place in Khartoum last week will be presented before a military court. He continued, "Those who committed the crimes will be punished."

In similar statements, Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir promised to punish those who are responsible for the aggression.

The Sudanese government accused the opposition coalition of being "a terrorist organization," stressing its involvement in the recent attacks.

Meanwhile, the Sudanese coalition forces said that its fighters killed some 11 members of Eritrea's Jihad movement which supports the Sudanese government. The statements added that this was in an attack against the suburbs of new Halfa city, 85 km southwest of Kasla province, in eastern Sudan.
