Bashir: Relations with Egypt are improving

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said in a speech published by The Constitution Jordanian newspaper yesterday that he adheres to developing Egyptian - Sudanese relations so they can regain their distinctive position in light of the historical ties between the two countries.
He said, "The relations with Cairo are moving forward in spite of the existence of obstacles which need some time to be solved."
He also confirmed his trust in the Egyptian leadership's realization of the strategic importance of relations between the two countries and called for covening an urgent Arab summit.
Tensions between the two countries have been ongoing as a result of the annexation of Egyptian property in Sudan after the current government came to power, and security concerns by Egypt which claims that Sudan is harboring of terrorists. Both sides have expressed desire to improve their political ties as there has been some improvement along their commercial ties.
