Sudan, Politics, 7/7/1998
Sudanese security forces in Blue Nile province in eastern Sudan have arrested members of a cell that was found to be in charge of sending fighters from the Sudanese opposition to Eritrea.
Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm said that members of the cell who are affiliated with a banned party were arrested.
Large sums of money were found with them besides documents proving that they had sent two fighting groups to Eritrea. The paper did not mention the number of arrested persons or the name of the party to which they are affiliated.
The paper indicated that the arrested people will face charges of undermining the country's unity, violating the constitution and conducting illegal military training.
